Peer Parent LiaisonsProvide
peer support to adoptive, foster, and kinship families to empower parents to advocate for themselves and make referrals and
identify appropriate resources within the community such as physicians, mental health professionals and therapists that understand
the needs of adopted children.
One Love Many Colors – Transracial AdoptionThe intent of this initiative is to educate, promote, and support. Through
education and open forums that foster an environment that is non-judgmental discussions
will open the door to address issues, concerns and prejudices regarding transracial adoption. Potential families
will be able to give voice to their thoughts and fears without concern of reproach. If potential
parents are able to discuss concerns and issues without fear, know that they are not alone and there is support from other
transracial adoptive families - more families will be open to the possibility of adopting transracially. Education
and support are the tools that will facilitate the change we seek - the adoption of more black children
from foster care. Children don’t
care about the color of your skin or whether you are perfect parent, they just want to be loved.
